1. How must be installed OracleAS Infrastructure and Oracle Middle-Tier?
OracleAS Infrastructure and Oracle Middle-Tier must be installed in 2 different Oracle Homes.
2. What is an Oracle AS instance?
An Oracle AS instance is a set of processes that operate the various Oracle AS components. There are 2 separate instances: one for the infrastructure and one for the middle-tier.
3. What is the ias_admin user ?
The ias_admin user is the administrative user for OracleAS instances. The username ias_admin is the same for all the OracleAS instances.
An Oracle AS Farm is a set of instances (one or more) that share a single Oracle AS Metadata Repository.
5. Is it possible to use a file-base Repository ?
Yes, it's possible, but only for J2EE and Web cache instances.
6. What is an OracleAS Cluster ?
An OracleAS Cluster is a collection of instances with identical configuration. In order to create a Cluster and to add members to it, the OracleAS instance must be first part of an OracleAS Farm.
