Oracle Applications Backup

NOTE: This article named Oracle Applications Backup  was taken from  www.in-oracle.com.

For the Oracle Applications Backup we have to know the following:

  •  Oracle Application Tier backup must be taken after patching the APPS tier;

  • The Oracle Applications Backup is divided in 2 tasks: Oracle Application Tier backup and Database backup;

  • The Oracle Application Tier backup could be taken while the middle tier services are running or stopped ( However it is recommended to stop the middle tier services);

  • The Database backup is a regular database backup and could be done with the database stopped or running (the techniques are different);

  • The Database backup must be taken after patching the APPS tier or DB tier and on regular basis (as for a normal Oracle Database);

  • The Oracle Application Tier backup is a simple copy of the Oracle Middle tier files (all files/ directories excepting <SID>data and <SID>db which are database directories for database binaries & data files).
